Our Safeguarding Commitment and Tutor Responsibilities
Purpose of TuitionBox
TuitionBox is a UK-based platform designed to connect learners with tutors in a safe, professional, and transparent way. All tutors using the platform are expected to act responsibly, ethically, and in the best interests of learners at all times.
Safeguarding Commitment
TuitionBox is committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
By registering as a tutor on TuitionBox, you confirm that you:
- Understand your responsibility to maintain professional boundaries
- Agree to act in a manner that promotes learner safety and wellbeing
- Will report any safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately
TuitionBox reserves the right to suspend or remove any tutor profile where safeguarding concerns arise.
DBS Declaration
Tutors are required to declare their DBS status during sign-up.
Where tuition involves learners under 18:
- An Enhanced DBS check is strongly expected
- Tutors must provide accurate and truthful information regarding their DBS status
Providing false or misleading information may result in immediate removal from the platform.
Professional Conduct
Provide accurate and up-to-date information about their qualifications, experience, and subjects offered
Communicate respectfully, professionally, and appropriately with learners and, where applicable, parents or guardians
Deliver tuition in a safe, suitable, and appropriate environment, whether online or in person
Hold an Enhanced DBS check when tutoring learners under the age of 18, and accurately declare their DBS status during sign-up
Maintain professional boundaries at all times and act in the best interests of learners
Avoid any behaviour that could bring TuitionBox into disrepute or undermine trust in the platform
Approval and Monitoring
All tutor profiles are subject to review before appearing in the tutor directory. TuitionBox reserves the right to:
- Request additional information
- Place profiles under review
- Remove listings that do not meet platform standards
Liability
Tutors operate as independent professionals. TuitionBox acts as a platform facilitating introductions and does not accept liability for the delivery of tuition services.
Agreement
By creating a tutor profile on TuitionBox, you confirm that you:
- Have read and understood these terms
- Agree to comply with safeguarding expectations
- Accept TuitionBox’s right to moderate and manage tutor listings
